Live Attenuation Platform
KHAV develops vaccines for human and animal diseases using the Live Attenuation Platform
Technical Description Schematic
Live Attenuationis a technique to recover the pathogenicity of bacterial or viral pathogens using techniques such as passaging.
- Attenuated pathogen can replicate in host and induce immunity but cause symptoms.
- Attenuated vaccines use the same mechanisms as natural infection to ensure multiple routes of immunisation and activate the immune system, including cellular immunity, to defend against foreign pathogens.

Platform Applications
Animal Health
We are developing a region-specific attenuated live vaccine to counteract domestic and international outbreaks of avian infectious bronchitis virus.
Human Health
We are using our experience in developing an attenuated live vaccine for chicken infectious bronchitis virus to develop an attenuated live vaccine for the human COVID-19 virus.
